The Lehmkuhl Lecture is an annual event at NHH in honour of the school's "founding father" Kristofer Lehmkuhl. It takes place on, or close to, his date of birth September 26. This year's speaker is investor Frode Eilertsen. Title: The future of Norway: A commodity-based laggard or a digital pioneer?

Debatt Forskningsdagene i Bergen Fremtidens jobb - for hvem?

Noen mener fast jobb ikke er så viktig lenger. Har de rett? Hvorfor er det så vanskelig å ta de rette valgene når det får så store konsekvenser senere i livet? Går det an å velge seg fram til et lykkeligere (arbeids-)liv? Kan atferdsøkonomene hjelpe oss? Og hva med dem som har valgt riktig og topper alle gode statistikker, men likevel havner nede på karrierestigen. Hvorfor blir kvinner forbigått? Agnar Sandmo Lecture on Public Policy: Nobel Laureate Peter Diamond (MIT) Good pension design

Peter A. Diamond is an American economist known for his analysis of U.S. Social Security policy. He was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2010. He is an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Agnar Sandmo retired at the age of 70 on 9 January 2008. In order to mark Sandmo’s long contribution to the field, as well as his international standing NHH has established two annual institutions. Coffee and refreshments will be served outside the auditorium from 11.30.

Applied Microeconomics Workshop

This conference will bring together a diverse group of senior and junior applied micro-economists from Europe and the US working on a range of issues that include tax policy, education, healthcare, crime and other areas of interest. The purpose of this conference is to encourage cross-fertilization of techniques and topics across applied-micro economists working in these different but connected fields. The conference is organized by Katrine V. Løken (Norwegian School of Economics), Magne Mogstad (University of Chicago), Gordon Dahl (University California San Diego), and Manudeep Bhuller (University of Oslo). ACTION Seminar with Statoil

Together with key representatives from our corporate partner Statoil, the ACTION project arranges a research seminar to present and discuss ongoing research projects and a recently completed master’s thesis within the topic dynamic management control systems. In close collaboration with Statoil, some of our ACTION master students, PhD candidates, and researchers from NHH and Nord University discuss recent empirical findings from Norwegian and international operations with practitioner specialists from the field.

ACTION meeting Digitalization in ACTION

The ACTION Project is expanding its’ team with two new researchers within digitalization. Jon Iden will lead this work from May 1st, and Dan-Richard Knutsen will join the ACTION project as a PhD student with research on digitalization from August. Jon will present his plans to the research group at SNF.

Pedagogical seminar Student-active teaching at NHH

Student-active teaching and learning involves students in the learning process. Research suggests that genuine learning requires more than passive listening — students must discuss, write, ask and answer questions, or otherwise engage in their own learning. These activities in turn require students to use critical thinking skills such as analysis and evaluation. The seminar will be held in English.

Tax Havens, Capital Flows and Developing Countries Lifting the Veil of Secrecy

Leading academics, practitioners and investigative journalists from all over the world, will meet in Bergen, Norway, 21 to 22 November 2016 to present state of the art research on tax havens, elite behaviour and international taxation, and discuss how tax havens affect developing countries. Offentlig ansatte og politikere imot penger og gaver fra personer som helt åpenbart er ute etter en personlig gevinst. Er de korrupte? Også norske selskaper i utlandet blitt tatt med buksene nede. This PhD course, organised by the Department of Professional and Intercultural Communication, and in connection with the Norwegian Graduate Researcher School in Linguistics and Philology (LingPhil), aims to provide PhD candidates with knowledge and skills that will prepare them for future employment both inside and outside academia.

Perspektiv¤meldingen 2017 Hvordan kan norsk økonomi møte lavere oljepris?

Regjeringen skal legge fram en ny perspektivmelding i 2017. Som en del av arbeidet med meldingen avholder Finansdepartementet åpne seminarer for å belyse viktige utfordringer for norsk økonomi og for videreføring av de norske velferdsordningene. Dette seminaret er det fjerde og siste i rekken. Det arrangeres i samarbeid med NHH og Bergen Næringsråd.

2016 seminar of CSL

The Choice Lab PhD workshop

At this PhD workshop in behavioral and experimental economics 2016, eight PhD students will have the opportunity to present their present work. The keynote lectures will be given by Dirk Engelmann (Humboldt University of Berlin) and Bertil Tungodden (Norwegian School of Economics). The workshop aims at first or second year PhD students and is organized as part of the following 2016 European meeting of the Economic Science Association, which takes place at NHH. This is a great opportunity to present and discuss your research with senior researchers in your field of research and to foster new networks and research collaborations. Graduation ceremony

NHH gives the annual graduation ceremony for master students finishing their degrees in the spring semester , as well as those who have finished their degrees since the previous ceremony.

11th Nordic Summer Institute in Labor Economics

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for the best labor scholars in the Nordic countries to get together and to discuss their work. The meeting will contain both contributed and invited papers. The keynote speakers are Chinhui Juhn for the University of Houston and David Figlio from Northwestern University. The meeting is organized by the Center for Empirical Labor Economics (CELE) at the Norwegian School of Economics in collaboration with Uppsala University, Aarhus University and Aalto University.
