The transition to the low-carbon society requires profound changes in the energy system including fundamental changes in electricity generation, such as an increase in distributed RES generation, and in electricity consumption, e.g. via electrification.

Distribution networks are heavily affected by distributed generation and changes in load patterns, and the distribution system operators’ (DSO) ability to accommodate and handle these changes is essential.
