 Language management straddles the fields of linguistics and business studies, and should thus be of broad interest to PhD students of language and of business. Language issues that initially were regarded as unproblematic and treated on an ad hoc basis in many workplaces have turned out to raise a number of issues relating to power differences, lines of communication, inclusion, intercultural communication, together with demarcation lines between the use of English as a lingua franca and the role of other languages in the workplace. Language management focuses on this topic field.

The invited speakers are among the foremost scholars of the field. They have their backgrounds from management studies as well as from linguistics, and come from universities in Finland, Japan, and Norway:

• Professor Lisa Fairbrother (Sophia University, Tokyo)
• Professor Anne Kari Bjørge (NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen)
• Dr Kaisa Sofia Pietikäinen (NHH, Norges Handelshøyskole)
