Double Degree Programme Structure

First-year graduate students must ensure that their study plan aligns with the requirements of their selected partner school.

In the Partner University tabs, you will find further details for each school. PDF files titled “Program Structure” explain how NHH majors can be combined with partner school programs and specify the degrees you will be eligible to receive.

- Documentation of language: Advanced proficiency in English is required and must be validated by NHH. Submission of an official English language certificate is not necessary.
- GPA required: None
- Tuition fee: None; however, an administrative fee of $319.95 applies. All international students at HEC Montréal must have valid health insurance, and the school will automatically enroll you in a health plan. Students who are citizens of countries with a social security agreement with Quebec (e.g. Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden) may be eligible to replace this with the provincial RAMQ plan.

The program is open to applicants with a strong background in sustainability and innovation. Applicants from all NHH majors are welcome to apply.
The program is recommended for bachelor-level applicants due to the extended application process.

Programme structure

- You can combine any NHH major with the Master's in Management at FGV Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
- Complete your major at NHH in the first year, including all mandatory courses and the Ethics and Responsibility in Society (ERS) requirement.
Thesis at FGV
- You will have an FGV supervisor only.
- You will submit your master's thesis at FGV, following their procedures including an oral defense.
- The thesis at FGV is awarded 40 ECTS, but will be transferred to NHH as 30 ECTS.

- If you are enrolled in the International MSc in Finance program, you must have completed the language requirements as detailed here.
- All students, whether enrolled in the International MSc in Finance or the regular MSc in Finance, must submit proof of English proficiency at a minimum B2 level. Accepted exams include Cambridge, TOEFL, or IELTS. TOEFL iBT Home Edition certificates are also accepted.

- For the International MSc in Finance, you must submit a video of no more than 4 minutes in which you explain how and where you envision yourself five years from now in terms of your professional career.

- You will complete your Master’s thesis at Nova, referred to as the “Work Project”, under the supervision of a faculty member at Nova only.
- The thesis is worth 30 ECTS.
The Nova Double Degree is available only to students enrolled in the following NHH majors:

FIE - Finance
You may combine the FIE major at NHH with either the highly ranked International Master’s in Finance or the regular Master’s in Finance program at Nova.
Students who do not meet the requirements for the International Master’s in Finance may enroll in the regular Master’s in Finance. The curriculum is identical, but the regular program does not include the additional career services or the requirements related to language skills and international experience.

- You will complete your Master’s thesis at the University of Mannheim, following their requirements and procedures. Topics for Master’s theses are assigned, not chosen individually.
- You will have a supervisor and must submit your thesis at Mannheim only.
- The thesis consists of 24 ECTS of written work plus a seminar, for a total of 30 ECTS.

You may combine any major at NHH with the Master in Management at the University of Mannheim.
- Program structure
- The Mannheim Master in Management program includes five mandatory courses:
- CC 501 Decision Analysis
- Either CC 502 Applied Econometrics or CC 503 Empirical Methods
- CC 504 Corporate Social Responsibility
- BE 510 Business Economics I
- BE 511 Business Economics II
- Some core courses may be covered by NHH courses, allowing room for additional electives at Mannheim. See the list of course equivalents here.
