Do You Know the Unwritten Codes of Work?

Every workplace runs on more than just policies and procedures. There are also the “unwritten codes”—the subtle ways we conduct meetings, share feedback, or interpret leadership. They’re not written in a handbook, but they shape how we collaborate every day.

At NHH, our community brings together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and expectations. That diversity is a huge strength—but it also means the “unspoken codes” aren’t always the same for everyone. What feels natural to one person might be confusing to another. Understanding these subtle differences is not about being international or Norwegian. It’s about learning how to thrive and contribute in a workplace where many perspectives meet.

That is the focus of the upcoming Project BELONG Workshop: Working Together Across Cultures. Through reflection, discussion, and shared stories, we’ll explore how to recognize cultural codes, how to bridge differences in style, and how to build better ways of working together.

The workshop will be led by Lorelou Desjardins, public speaker and best-selling author of A Frog in the Fjord and How to be Norwegian. With her mix of humor and practical insight, Lorelou helps participants see both the invisible rules of Norwegian work life and the opportunities that come from combining different perspectives.

This is not a session for internationals or for Norwegians. It’s a session for anyone and EVERYONE who wants to collaborate more effectively, expand their tacit knowledge, and make daily work at NHH more rewarding.

👉 Join us and take part in the conversation. Because how we work together matters.
