Launching a new joint onboarding solution for new employees
Automatic sending of emails prior to start-up and a dedicated onboarding page with useful content await new employees at NHH. In addition, leaders and onboarding coordinators receive a dedicated tool.
'We are pleased to launch a new, joint onboarding solution that will help new employees get a comprehensive and good start at NHH,' says a smiling Bjørg Marit Eknes, Director of Organization and Governance at NHH.
The new solution consists of two main components:
- A new SharePoint page with links to relevant information during the first days as an employee.
- An onboarding tool for digital follow-up and structured implementation of the onboarding period.
The solution has been developed to:
- Contribute to ensuring that new employees at NHH receive the necessary information before starting work, including IT equipment and practical details.
- Provide leaders with improved structure and support in the follow-up of new employees.
- Strengthen the relationship between new employees and leaders through closer follow-up during the trial period.
The new employees covered by the new process are faculty members and administrative staff who have a position percentage of over 50% (permanent or temporary) and a current employment contract for 12 months or longer.
Why is it important?
'Good onboarding lays the foundation for engagement, well-being and productivity. With the new solution, we are raising the quality of how we welcome and follow up our new colleagues, and we are helping to strengthen our workplace culture and sense of belonging to NHH,' says project manager Marit Vinnes at the Office of HR.
The new launch comes as a result of feedback from new employees, leaders in the organization and employees who work with onboarding. Through workshops, input meetings and a separate project group, many in the organization have contributed to the new development. Ann Helen Haugen and Morten Tobiassen from the digitalisation team at NHH have contributed greatly to the implementation, together with Ingunn Gjærde, advisor at the Office of Communications and External Relations.
'We would like to thank everyone who has participated in developing the solution – this is an important milestone for us,' says Vinnes.
