Double Degree Partners

As a double degree student, you spend the first year of the programme at NHH in Bergen, pursuing the major of your choice. The second year will be spent at one of NHH's highly ranked Double Degree partner universities.

First year graduate students must ensure that their study plan is in accordance with the requirements of their selected partner school (see "Programme Structure"). 

  • Bocconi University, Italy

    Bocconi University, Italy

    • Accreditation: AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA (Triple Crown)
    • Language of instruction: English
    • Documentation of language: regular
    • GPA required: none
    • Tuition fee: none, but there is a mandatory €365 graduation fee
    • Erasmus+ grant: €410 per month
    • Other: Bocconi does not accept graduate courses with pass/fail assessment
    • Other: Italian citizens or students who have previously unsuccessfully applied directly to the MSc programme at Bocconi will not be eligible to apply to the Double Degree programme with Bocconi.

    In order to graduate, you must fulfill the following requirements:

      Thesis

      • You write your thesis alone, with supervisors from both Bocconi and NHH.
      • A thesis at Bocconi is only worth between 18-20 ECTS, while the requirement at NHH is 30 ECTS. Your supervisor at NHH will therefore have to guarantee that the thesis is of sufficient high quality and scope.
      • You will hand in the thesis at Bocconi.

      • You need to complete an A2-level course in Italian by the end of your year in Bocconi to graduate

      • 16-weeks of professional experience in fields related to your coursework at HEC Paris is an HEC degree requirement. This requirement may be fulfilled either by an internship or by a full-time job after graduation.
    • Thesis

      Thesis

      • You will write your master's thesis alone. The thesis will be submitted to NHH only, in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th semester. You will have a supervisor at NHH, and you must apply for a supervisor by 15 October.
      • Your thesis will be worth 30 ECTS

    • Documentation of language: Either an undergraduate degree taught in English; or work experience from an English-speaking environment for a minimum of two years; or TOEFL (min. internet-based score of 100), IELTS General or Academic (min. 7.0 band score), MELAB (min. 85), PTE (min. 70), CAEL (min. overall score of 60 required with no part less than 60), Duolingo (min. 125), PELMO (min. 75)

      As part of the programme, international professional experience is required in the summer before you start your studies in Canada.

      • For a candidate pursuing the IB stream: 8-week internship or similar work experience, at any company (that is also approved by NHH) with international operations.
      • For Business Analytics, a minimum 10-week internship or equivalent work experience, at any company (also approved by NHH), where the work involved a focus on analytics.

      • You will write your master thesis at Ivey, and it should be submitted to Ivey only. 
      • Your thesis will be worth 30 ECTS

      • You will start working on your thesis (20 ECTS) in your second semester. You will write your master's thesis alone.
      • The thesis will be submitted to both the NHH (co-supervisor) and Louvain (supervisor). Co-supervisor will control and confirm that the thesis fulfills NHHs criteria. Oral defense at Louvain.
      • Your thesis will be recognized as 30 ECTS into your NHH degree.

      • Incoming students are not required to do an internship. They will instead be assigned a project work which they will organize at Luiss. Students are welcome to do an internship in Rome instead. Contact the Double Degree coordinator for more information on this. 
    • Thesis

      • You will write your master’s thesis alone, with supervisors from Luiss. You will need to do an oral defence of your thesis before graduation. 
      • Your thesis at Luiss will be made up of 18 ECTS written work + project work for a total of 30 ECTS

    • ENE - Strategic Management

      ENE - Strategic Management

      Combine the ENE major at NHH with Strategic Management, Innovation and Sustainability at Luiss.

  • Nova School of Business and Economics, Portugal

    • Other: for the International MSc in Finance, you must submit a 4-minute video (max.) explaining how and where you see yourself in 5 years in terms of professional career

    In order to graduate, you must fulfill the following requirements:

      • If you are enrolled in the International MSc in Finance programme, you must have completed the language requirement detailed here.
      • All students, regardless of whether they are attending the Int. MSc. in Finance or the regular MSc. in Finance must submit an English certificate minimum B2. You can upload one of the following exams: Cambridge, TOEFl, or IELTS. TOEFL iBT Home Edition certificates are accepted.
    • Thesis

      • You will write your master thesis at Nova, called "Work Project". You will have a supervisor at Nova only. 
      • Your thesis will be worth 30 ECTS

    • FIE - Finance

      FIE - Finance

      Combine FIE at NHH with the highly ranked International Master’s in Finance or the regular Master’s in Finance programme at Nova. Students who don’t qualify for the International Master’s in Finance can take the regular Master’s in Finance. The curriculum will be the same, but the career services and requirements concerning language skills and experience abroad are omitted.

      • You will have a supervisor and submit your thesis at Mannheim only.
      • Your thesis is made up of a written work worth 24 ECTS + seminar for a total of 30 ECTS

    • Language of instruction: English
    • Documentation of language: you must have achieved a TOEFL IBT score of 100 (min. writing score of 21, and reading/speaking/listening score of 19), TOEFL Paper-based score of 570 (min. written score of 5.0 and listening/reading score of 54) or an IELTS result of 6.5 (with min. sub-band scores of 6 in speaking and writing) before you can start your studies at UQ.
