    Programme Objectives

    The Nordic Media Programme (NMP) is a six-month leadership development programme designed for senior media managers navigating organisational change in a rapidly shifting industry.

    The programme combines expert lectures with peer learning, strategic frameworks, structured reflection, and inspiring company visits. Participants work on concrete challenges from their own organisations using formats drawn from design thinking, leadership consulting, and participatory strategy. Sessions are facilitated by academics and coaches with expertise in strategy, change management, and media leadership. NMP is open to both editorial and business-side leaders from across the Nordic media sector.

    By completing NMP, participants will:

    • Understand shifts in consumer behaviour and how news organisations can better serve audiences
    • Assess AI as a transformative technology, identify emerging opportunities and risks, and build leadership capabilities for navigating technological change
    • Develop skills in co-creating solutions to real organisational challenges in peer settings, supported by expert facilitation
    • Strengthen their capacity to lead change and engage others in strategy processes
    • Develop personal leadership clarity through structured reflection and feedback
    • Build a trusted network of Nordic media leaders

    Structure and Organisation

    NMP spans six months and consists of four in-person workshops, a preparatory interview and goal-setting exercise, and a digital kick-off meeting. Toral duration is 13 days.

    The workshops are held in different Nordic cities to support diverse perspectives and engagement with local cases. The language of instruction is English. Participants are expected to be present for the full duration of each workshops.

    Programme Components

    1. PREPARATION: Self-evaluation and goal-setting
      When: September 2026 (online)
      Participants complete a personal interview and leadership self-evaluation. Based on this, the NMP team helps define individual learning goals and may adapt workshop content to align with participant needs.
    2. DIGITAL KICK-OFF: Practical overview
      When: 24 September 2026 (online)

    This online session introduces the programme structure and invites participants to begin formulating a key leadership challenge they wish to explore during the workshops.

    1. WORKSHOP BERGEN: 'Understanding consumers, growing with customers'
      When: 21–23 October 2026
      Where: Bergen, Norway (NHH Campus Bergen)
      This workshop focuses on the evolving needs and behaviours of media audiences. Participants explore how media organisations can grow by deepening customer insight and anchoring strategy in user needs. A live case provides the basis for collaborative analysis.
    2. WORKSHOP STOCKHOLM: 'Strategic leadership in the age of AI'
      When: 25–27 November 2026
      Where: Stockholm, Sweden (SSE)
      This workshop examines how AI is reshaping leadership, strategy, and organisation. It offers practical tools and critical perspectives to help leaders integrate AI into strategic thinking, manage disruption, and lead responsibly amid rapid technological change.
    3. WORKSHOP HELSINKI: 'Coopetition, Strategy, and Vision'
      When: 10–12 February 2027
      Where: Helsinki, Finland (Hanken SSE)
      Building on insights from Bergen and Stockholm, this workshop challenges participants to develop concrete strategic initiatives. It examines the dynamics of competition and collaboration in the Nordic media landscape through cases that illustrate effective industry synergies.
    4. WORKSHOP COPENHAGEN: 'My personal leadership quest'
      When: 17–19 March 2027
      Where: Copenhagen, Denmark (CBS)

    The final workshop centres on personal leadership development. Participants reflect on their leadership journey — past, present, and future — and articulate how they intend to lead going forward.
