Share Your Ideas for NHH’s Strategy – AI Makes It Easier

Rector Helge Thorbjørnsen and an innovative AI bot invite you to contribute your input for NHH’s 2026–2029 strategy.

NHH has begun work on its strategic process for the 2026–2029 period, and this time we’re introducing a brand-new method to ensure broad involvement.

'For the first time, we will use an innovative AI-driven interview bot to collect input from employees, alumni, and partner companies. This allows us to include more voices than ever before while also making the process more efficient,' says Rector Helge Thorbjørnsen enthusiastically.

The first thing employees will encounter in the input round is a short video message from Rector Helge Thorbjørnsen.

How does it work?

Through short, text-based chat sessions lasting 10–15 minutes, the bot will ask structured questions and follow up based on your responses. The interviews are tailored to different target groups.

All employees have received a personal link via email. No log-in or registration is required, ensuring a simple and user-friendly experience while maintaining data privacy. The invitation and the bot are available in both Norwegian and English.

The solution has been developed in-house as a web application in NHH’s Azure environment, using models from OpenAI. All data processing takes place in Norway or the EU. The architecture is designed to handle a large number of conversations simultaneously. NHH collects both chat logs and structured data from each conversation for later analysis.

'NHH’s success is built on collaboration, and the strategic process is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the institution. I encourage all employees to take the opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives – your voices are crucial for creating a strategy that reflects who we are and what we can achieve together,' says Rector Thorbjørnsen.

Why AI?

Traditional interviews can only reach a limited number of participants, while the AI solution allows us to gather far more input in a short period. At the same time, we ensure that all data is processed securely and in compliance with privacy regulations. This represents an important step in NHH’s efforts to combine innovation with sustainable development.

The Process

Eirik Sjåholm Knudsen, Alexander Lundervold, and Lasse Lien are leading the AI bot development and the innovative strategy process.

The input round with the interview bot covers four key groups:

  • Alumni Engagement – input from former students.
  • Partner Companies – input from external collaborators.
  • Employee Engagement – your opportunity to contribute as an NHH employee.
  • Student Involvement – input from current students.

NHH’s leadership team will also hold a dedicated strategy workshop on 31 October.

Moving forward, the academic departments will contribute analyses and input, NHH’s leadership will participate in two strategy meetings, and the Board will discuss the strategy at several stages. The new strategy will be approved by the Board early 2026.

Be Part of the Change

By participating in the strategic process, you can help shape NHH’s direction and priorities for the coming years.

'We look forward to receiving many exciting and valuable contributions,' says our rector.
