Juranek appointed Excellent Teaching Practitioner

Professor Steffen Juranek has been honoured with the title of "Excellent Teaching Practitioner." This prestigious scheme aims to foster a collegial and professional culture in teaching and learning.

The status of Excellent Teaching Practitioner (Merittert underviser) is based on proven merit and commitment to teaching and educational excellence. It is granted independently of other academic promotion schemes. The title can only be awarded to faculty members who develop their teaching competencies systematically and over time, significantly higher than the required basic competence.

Juranek's career began as a teaching assistant during his master's studies and continued as a teaching assistant during his PhD. He was employed at NHH in 2013, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017 and became a full professor in 2023.

Steffen Juranek clearly cares for the students and has a sophisticated pedagogical understanding of how to enable them to make the most of their learning. He has demonstrated dedication to continuous improvement and innovation for over a decade. He works well with others and shares ideas and expertise about teaching with colleagues locally, nationally, and internationally.

Juranek has won several awards, including the 2024 NHH Inspirational Teaching Award, the 2023 NHH Mission Award (together with Stella Angove) and the Excellence in Teaching Award at Goethe Business School three times.

At NHH, he created the Innovation School and is currently the Academic Director for NHH Executive’s MBA specialisation in Seafood Management.

Steffen Juranek is the new Vice-Rector for Education at NHH from August 2025.

NHH now has 13 "Excellent Teaching Practitioners": Jan Ubøe, Stig Tenold, Annelise Ly, Iver Bragelien, Herbjørn Nysveen, Kjetil Bjorvatn, Jon Iden, Alexander Cappelen, Eirik Sjåholm Knudsen, Kristin Rygg, Carsten Bienz, Therese Egeland, and now Steffen.
