Calling PhD candidates to apply for week-long course in Vienna

Publishing isn’t just about following journal guidelines. It’s about mastering the unwritten rules of writing, revising and resubmitting. The new “ENGAGE.EU Paper Development Workshop in Management” (6 ECTS) will make those rules explicit, equipping you with the skills to navigate the publication process confidently.

What to expect
“We’ll pick up where the typical academic writing course leaves it off and will focus on what it takes to get a manuscript submission ready”, said NHH professor and course co-creator, Björn Schmeisser.
During the week-long course in March, you will start each day stepping into the shoes of both author and reviewer, offering and receiving constructive feedback on draft papers. Afternoons are dedicated to interactive classroom discussions where instructors provide actionable strategies for enhancing your work.
“The agenda includes sessions in writing compelling paper introduction, developing robust hypotheses, presenting clear methods and results’ parts, and crafting impactful discussion sections”, explains Schmeisser.
NHH has two-four spots available
12 spots are available in total. As organizer of the course, NHH will have between two and four spots available. Each NHH participant will be supported with 15,000 NOK from our ENGAGE.EU fund covering expenses associated with the course such as travel, accommodation and semester fees.
“Beyond the academic rigor, the course fosters collaboration across the ENGAGE.EU alliance universities and their PhD students ensuring a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives,” concludes Schmeisser.
How to apply:
- Submit a draft paper and a one-page motivation letter.
- The draft paper should cover all key sections of a journal article from introduction to discussion and include a two-page extended abstract for peer circulation.
