Should NHH apply for university status?

Rector Øystein Thøgersen invites departments, offices, professional unions and the student association (NHHS) to provide input.

Thøgersen informed at the previous town hall meeting that there will be a hearing in the organisation on whether NHH should apply for university status or not.
The question will be discussed at the NHH Board meeting on 17 June 2025, and the input from the hearing will be included in the the board's documents.

How can you give your input?

Each office and department will submit its input for the hearing collectively. Leaders in the organisation received background information and information about the hearing process on Friday 25 April.
The deadline for submitting responses is Monday 19 May, 2025 at noon.
The hearing bodies are asked to draft compact contributions of no more than about one page. However, those hearing bodies that wish to attach supplementary material and assessments are free to do so.

The questions in the hearing

  1. To what extent is the description of the expected future university landscape in the consultation document perceived as apt and relevant for NHH?
  2. How important is it for NHH to be categorized together with other higher education institutions with the same emphasis on international high-quality standards for education, research and dissemination/community contact?
  3. How is the possibility of combining well-established and solid brand names such as NHH and the Norwegian School of Economics with the designation "university" assessed in a way that safeguards the institution's identity and position?
