Calendar door 3: Astrid Ovidia Mjell Strand
In the third calendar door of the NHH Employee Calendar 2024 we find Astrid. Learn more about her traditions decorating the Christmas tree, eating cloudberry cream and watching "Grevinnen and Hovmesteren".
Astrid Ovidia Mjell Strand who works in the Office of Finance and Accounting since July, is from Bergen and has been living here her whole life.
Astrid and her family celebrate a traditional Norwegian celebration. She has three kids, and although they are now grown up they still like to celebrate the same way every year and keep the traditions.
Astrid will therefore celebrate Christmas at home with her husband, kids and mother. During the Christmas season they will also spend time together with the rest of her family. If it is nice weather and maybe even snow, you might meet them on a walk around Fløyen.
Her favorite Christmas traditions include decorating the Christmas Tree, which happens on the day before Christmas eve. She also enjoys making good food, having her kids at home and watch "Grevinnen og Hovmesteren".
NHH Employee Calendar 2024
During workdays in December, Paraplyen will present colleagues and their end-of-the-year traditions. In total 15 employees will share their own special traditions.
The Christmas season also includes New Year celebrations and on New Years eve Astrid always serves turkey with stuffing.
‘I think that is my favorite dinner,’ Astrid says.
On Christmas eve they have another favorite food of Astrid’s: Multekrem (cloudberry cream).
‘I have picked the berries myself so that makes it extra tasteful,’ she explains.
In Bergen, Astrid likes the Christmas market in the City of Bergen and also all the decoration with lights. Combined with her wish for a white Christmas and lots of snow, this paints a beautiful picture of Christmas.
