Calendar door 10: Merete Ånes

In the tenth calendar door of the NHH Employee Calendar 2024 we find Merete, who is looking forward to going to Gimmeland Gaard at Bontveit in December to cut down their own Christmas tree and visit Santa.

Merete Wiik Ånes is originally from Bergen and has been working at NHH for ten years, at the Section for International Relations.

She is part of the people at NHH who still remember the “NHH juletrefest” and think it would be wonderful if NHH started organizing it again!

In Merete’s family they have a tradition of going to Gimmeland Gaard at Bontveit in December to cut down their own Christmas tree and visit Santa.

'It's a very fun activity and the kids love it,' says Merete.

On Christmas Eve, Merete and her family eat pinnekjøtt, but since her husband is American they also make a turkey dinner during Christmas with all the different side dishes. As a true international Norwegian, her conclusion is that “this is almost as good as pinnekjøtt!”.

During workdays in December, Paraplyen will present colleagues and their end-of-the-year traditions. In total 15 employees will share their own special traditions.

Her favorite Christmas traditions include sending and receiving Christmas cards from friends and family and watching the advent calendar TV shows with her kids.
