The Bronze Sponge goes to Otneim and Berentsen
The bachelor students have chosen Håkon Otneim and Geir Drage Berentsen as winners of the Bronze Sponge 2022.

- The two award winners have managed to make a challenging subject manageable and understandable, said Kaia Baumann Semb, responsible for the Bachelor's in Studentutvalget, when she handed out the Bronze Sponge at the Town Hall Meeting, 16 December.
The nominations emphasized the lecturers' good communication skills and the good resources available in the course. The course is laid out in a way that makes it easy for the students to follow along and participate actively in the teaching.
- The course is one of the best parts of the Bachelor's degree, said Baumann, before announcing the winners.
Motivating award
Among other things, Otneim and Berentsen have used flipped teaching as a pedagogical method, where the students are much more involved, compared to classical lectures. Now the statistics course is presented in small blocks, where the students work with assignments and real cases linked to theory. In five different modules, the students have worked with the subject MET4 this autumn. Self-study, videos, assignments, computer exercises and overview lectures are all part of the course.
- It has been an incredible group of students this autumn. The students are a big reason why the teaching has worked so well, says Berentsen.
The award was a wonderful early Christmas present for the two lecturers at the Department of Management Science.
- It is amazing to receive such an award from the students. It motivates us to continue with the development of the course, says Otneim.
Earlier this year, the two lecturers won the "Inspirational Teaching Award"
