Honored NHH Professor Thorolf Rafto

Recently NHH had a wreath ceremony in memory of Thorolf Rafto and his work for human rights. Defense for Children International participated on behalf of Rafto Prize winner DCIP.

By awarding the Rafto Prize 2023 to Defence for Children International Palestine (DCIP) the Rafto Foundation sheds light on their persistent work to defend and promote the rights of children living in the occupied Palestinian territory.

DCIP was not able to participate in NHH’s wreath-laying ceremony 10 November. It was therefore Alex Kamaratos, Head of the umbrella organisation Defense for Children International, who participated on their behalf. The Rafto Prize was awarded on Sunday 12 November.

The Professor Thorolf Rafto Memorial Prize for Human Rights has been awarded every year since 1987. The prize was established in memory of the Norwegian human rights activist and NHH Professor, Thorolf Rafto (1922-1986).

long tradition of working together

NHH has worked together with the Rafto Foundation on various projects for several years, but the work was first formalised through an agreement in February last year. NHH’s Visiting Rafto Professor in human rights is one of the collaboration's more recent projects.
