Interested in gaining experience with research projects or academic events? FAIR is now recruiting two new student assistants!

Student Research Assistant

FAIR is looking for a motivated student to join a research project examining how high school students make decisions about higher education and choice of major.

In this role, you will work closely with the research team and play an important part in coordinating data collection across Norway. Depending on your interests and qualifications, there may also be opportunities to contribute to data analysis.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with academic research while developing valuable project coordination and analytical skills.

Tasks

  • Contact schools and municipalities across Norway to recruit high school students to participate in a survey
  • Coordinate and support data collection activities
  • Assist with communication and follow-up related to survey participation
  • Depending on interest and skills, contribute to the analysis of interview and survey data using quantitative methods

Who we're looking for

We are looking for an NHH student who is proactive, organized, and able to work independently.

Preferred qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at NHH, preferably with a major in Economics
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in Norwegian
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Interest in research and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Stata, R, or Python is an advantage

Contract Details
Period: Approximately 1–2 months, with a preferred start as soon as possible
Workload: Approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility around your study schedule

Student Coordinator – Events & Space Management

We are looking for a dedicated and outgoing student to join us at FAIR as a Student Coordinator for Events & Space Management. In this role, you will work closely with our Centre Coordinator to help create a welcoming, professional, and well-functioning environment for researchers, students, and visitors.

This is a hands-on role that combines practical responsibility for FAIR's spaces with support for events and activities throughout the semester. The workload will naturally vary from week to week. While some periods are calm, others are more active with multiple events or visitors requiring additional support. Flexibility, initiative, and a proactive mindset will be important for thriving in this position.

Tasks

  • Assist with the planning and practical coordination of seminars, workshops, conferences at FAIR
  • Help prepare rooms and spaces for seminars, workshops, meetings, and social events
  • Set up and clear away food and refreshments during events
  • Display presentation slides and ensure rooms are ready for use
  • Take photos and assist with the smooth execution of events
  • Help maintain FAIR's common areas, including tidying rooms, restocking coffee and supplies, etc.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming and professional environment for visitors and guests
  • Other tasks may include preparing presentations or other digital products.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for someone who is proactive, service-minded, and comfortable working in a dynamic academic environment. You should enjoy working with people and feel confident communicating in both Norwegian and English.

Availability on Monday mornings is particularly important for this position. The role requires a flexible schedule and may occasionally include evening work during larger events, depending on the candidate's availability.

Contract Details
Period: Mid-August 2026 – December 2026, with the possibility of extension through Summer 2027
Workload: Approximately 10 hours per week (with the possibility of additional hours during busy periods)
