Grand opening of the Development Learning Lab

In a joint effort, CMI, the Norwegian School of Economics, the University of Bergen and Centre of applied research at NHH (SNF) are launching a new research and learning centre called the Development Learning Lab.

Governments, NGOs and other donors invest huge sums and efforts in development programmes. But how effective are the programmes, do they bring the expected results? The Development Learning Lab (DLL) aims to fill knowledge gaps and make development programs more effective and successful.

The grand opening will take place in the University Aula at the University of Bergen Thursday September 2. The event will be live streamed at 14:00 local time.

- Bergen has a long-standing tradition of conducting development research, says Kjetil Bjorvatn, Professor at FAIR, and with DLL we open a new chapter of collaboration between the city’s centers of excellence and CMI, to generate new knowledge and promote evidence based aid.

Among the influential speakers participating at the grand opening are the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Dag Inge Ulstein, and Stefan Dercon, policy advisor to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in the UK government and professor of economic policy at the University of Oxford.
