Bjørg Marit Eknes (52) will be Director Organisation and Governance at NHH. She comes from the position as Director of Strategic Alliances in Sparebanken Vest.

‘Very gratifying for NHH. Bjørg Marit has extensive competence and a very solid background. We look forward to her contributing to strengthening NHH in important areas,’ says Rector Øystein Thøgersen.

Valuable contributions at a strategic level

Eknes will have extensive responsibilities in the areas of finance, HR, IT and property management in her portfolio. In addition, she will be part of NHH's top management group.

‘Bjørg Marit has headed several large development projects in Sparebanken Vest. This is, together with her management experience, a solid background for the work she will do at NHH,’ says Thøgersen, who knows Eknes from previous collaborations.

‘I have met Bjørg Marit in the role she has as chair of the board of NCE Finance Innovation, an initiative that NHH contributed to establish in collaboration with Sparebanken Vest. She will be able to make many valuable contributions at a strategic level when NHH now enters a new strategy period,’ says Thøgersen.

Eknes has an MSc degree in economics from NHH and has recently taken an Executive MBA in Technology and Innovation of Finance. Her education also comprises an MBA from Bond University in Australia, and she has completed AFF's Solstrand programme.

Among Norway's 50 leading Tech women

Since 1997, Eknes has been employed by Sparebanken Vest. She has been part of the bank's corporate management in a number of different positions since 2013. In March 2020, she was named one of «Norway's 50 leading Tech women» by Abelia and the ODA network.

‘I look forward to taking on the tasks at NHH. In addition to further developing the various offices, I look forward to contributing to strengthen NHH's established position as a leading international business school,’ says Eknes.

The position as Director Organisation and Governance at NHH is a new position. It will be the second of two new director positions in NHH's top management group, after Geir Mikalsen was employed as Director of Communications and External Relations last year.

‘We will get an efficient and well-balanced top management group consisting of these directors and the rectors,’ says Thøgersen.

Bjørg Marit Eknes will start in the new position at NHH in mid-August.
