Earie conference opened today

Over 400 attendees and 360 presentations when Norwegian School of Economics and University of Bergen opened the international EARIE conference at NHH today.

`The EARIE conference is among the most important meeting places for researchers, practitioners and politicians to present the latest research and discuss industrial economics and policy, and with the pandemic as a backdrop, these topics are more important than ever,´ Professor Øivind A. Nilsen says. He will be heading the event.

The aim of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics (EARIE) is to provide a professional meeting place for academics and practitioners engaged in the field of Industrial Economics. This year’s edition is organized from Bergen and will take place virtually from 27 to 28 August.

At the conference there will be presentations and discussions of research papers, as well as the awarding of the Young Economists' Essay Awards (YEEAs) to young economists for exceptionally innovative and high-level papers. Professor Øivind A. Nilsen from the Department of Economics will be heading the event.

Team and sponsors

A team consisting of both employees and students at the NHH campus will moderate up to 20 parallel meetings digitally.

Involved in sponsoring the organizing of the conference is, among others, SNF, Bergen Center for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE), NHH’s Centre for Business Economics (CBE), and the Norwegian Competition Authority.

`Industrial Organization is and has always been a very important field here at NHH. In addition to our own research and teaching activities, for instance through the Centre for Business Economics, we cooperate closely with the University of Bergen through the BECCLE Center, and with the Norwegian Competition Authority,´ says Nilsen.
