Master level restricted access courses

Some courses at the master level have restricted access. These courses have an earlier application deadline than other courses.

ENE432, FIE445 and FIE452 are no longer access restricted. All master students and exchange students on master level may register for the autumn of 2017.

First lecture restricted access courses

  • ENE432: Monday 28 August at 08.15 a.m. in Lab. 2
  • FIE435: Monday 4 September at 10.15 a.m. in Jan Mossin aud.
  • FIE445: Monday 28 August at 14.15 p.m. in aud. B
  • FIE452: Wednesday 30 August at 10.15 a.m. in Finn Kydland aud.

How to apply

If you wish to take the course for the first time:

  1. Go to the application portal to apply
  2. Choose Access Restricted courses - Access restricted courses - master level
  3. You may choose up to three courses in order of priority. You may be admitted to a maximum of two courses. Please indicate how many courses you would like to be admitted to by noting "7,5" for one course and "15" for two courses.
  4. Please make a note in the extra information section if you belong to one of the following groups of students:
  • you have passed an exam for the first time in the spring semester of 2017, but have not received the result by 21 August (please indicate the name of the course).
  • you have been on exchange in the spring of 2017 and have not received your results by 21 August
  • you are a double degree student and need the course you are applying for in order to complete your degree
  • you are a CEMS student

Please note that it is your responsibility to notify us if you belong to any of the groups above!

If you have taken the course earlier and want to retake the exam: Please do not apply for the course following the guidelines above. Instead, send an e-mail to opptak@nhh.no and ask to be registered for the exam autumn 2017.

Answer to the application

You will receive an answer to your application by Friday 25 August at 17.00 PM. If the course starts late in the semester, you will receive an answer well ahead of the course registration deadline (September 1 / February 1).

If you are allocated a seat in the course, please note that attendance at the first lecture is mandatory – if you do not attend, you will lose your seat in the course. Based on the attendance list from the first lecture, students will be registered for the exam by the section for Admissions.

If you are on the waiting list, you will be notified by e-mail if you are to attend the first lecture. Please do not attend the first lecture unless requested! You may find your waiting list number in the StudentWeb.

Priority groups

Applicants to restricted access courses on master level will be ranked in the following manner:

  1. Students who have the course as a mandatory part of their major profile.
    Your major profile is determined by the number of completed ECTS credits within the profile in question.
  2. Students who have the course as an optional course within their major profile. 
    Your major profile is determined by the number of completed ECTS credits within the profile in question.
  3. Students who have the course as part of their minor profile.
    Your minor profile is determined by the number of completed ECTS credits within the minor profile.
  4. Students who have the course as an elective.
    Students who are on exchange at NHH from other institutions belong to this category.

Within the same category, students are ranked according to the number of credits passed on the master level.

Students on exchange from NHH to other schools or universities may not be granted access to restricted access courses.

CEMS students have priority in CEMS core courses only (INB422); in other courses they are ranked according to the rules above.
