The 48th Annual Conference of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics (EARIE) is virtual and is organized from Bergen, Norway 27-28 August 2021. The conference is organized by NHH Norwegian School of Economics and The University of Bergen.

The University of Bergen is an internationally recognized public research university with seven faculties and a total of 16 900 students in Bachelors, Masters and PhD-programs. UoB is located mostly in the city center of Bergen and employs around 3 600 staff.

The Department of Economics at the University of Bergen has around 20 faculty members and offers teaching in economics at all levels, from bachelor to PhD. The department has three research groups, one of which is “Competition and Finance”. The University of Bergen also hosts Bergen Center for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE), a joint initiative between Norwegian School of Economics and University of Bergen (School of Social Science and School of Law). BECCLE is a network center for research in Industrial Organization and Competition Law and Economics, and organizes regular policy seminars, PhD courses and an annual international conference in Competition Policy.

The NHH Norwegian School of Economics is an independent, public business school established in 1917. NHH has since 1963 been located at its own campus 5 km north of the Bergen city center. NHH has almost 3.500 students in Bachelors, Masters and PhD programs. NHH is a member of the CEMS network and awards the CEMS MIM degree. NHH has had full EQUIS accreditation since 2001.

The School has around 160 faculty members. 100 students are currently enrolled in the PhD program of whom 60% is recruited internationally. NHH has 170 international partner institutions in 50 different countries. 50% of degree students take at least one semester at a foreign partner institution. 15% of students on campus are international.

NHH has six academic departments and 10 research centers, one of which is the Centre for Business Economics (CBE). This is a research group that combines elements from economics, strategy, marketing and management science, focusing on the functioning of firms, markets and organizations. Group members participate regularly in EARIE conferences, and three current and former members have served on the EARIE executive committee. NHH is also part of Bergen Center for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE), network center for research in Industrial Organization and Competition Law and Economics
