PhD Course in Identification Through Experiments

This week, Professor Lise Vesterlund (University of Pittsburgh) is teaching a PhD Course at FAIR. The topic of the four day long course is Identification Through Experiments: The Cases of Gender Differences in the Labor Market and the Study of Charitable Giving.

FAIR organized a PhD course with Professor Lise Vesterlund (University of Pittsburgh) 9 September to 12 September, on the topic of "Identification Through Experiments: The Cases of Gender Differences in the Labor Market and the Study of Charitable Giving". The course presented advanced topics in behavioral and experimental economics. The emphasis was how we can use of lab and field experiments to address questions related to charitable giving and gender differences in the labor market.

The topics of the lecutres were Methodology I, Charitable giving I: Why do people give?, Charitable giving II: Fundraising - Lead Giving, Charitable giving III: Fundraising – Lotteries, Matching, Navigating academia, Gender I: Competition, Gender II: Task allocation, Gender III: Negotiation, Gender IV: Discrimination, and Methodology II. There were also student presentations from many of the participants.

The course participants and Professor Bertil Tungodden walked the traditional hike ut Stoltzen.

During the course week, there were also social activities such as the traditional and popular hike up Stoltzen, and a course dinner on Thursday.
