Bulder is Norway's most innovative company
Norwegian consumers want seamless, digital and sustainable solutions that make everyday life easier. Bulder beats all other companies in the Norwegian Innovation Index 2025.**
Norwegian Innovation Index:
The Norwegian Innovation Index is developed at NHH and is used in several countries.
It measures customers' perceptions of innovation within commercial development, socially oriented solutions and digital services in companies.
Around 90 companies in more than 20 industries are included in the measurements.
The Norwegian Innovation Index is based on responses from around 20,000 Norwegian consumers.
The Norwegian Innovation Index is presented on Wednesday at NHH's premises in Oslo. The annual ranking measures how innovative Norwegian companies are, as perceived by customers.
This year, Bulder is the big winner. The fully digital bank tops the digital innovation index and has the highest average across the three measured categories. In addition to the digital innovation index, social and commercial innovation capabilities are measured. Following Bulder are Tise, Tesla, Vipps and Tibber.
Bulder celebrates
– The result shows that we have struck a chord in the Norwegian market. It's amazing to read that customers so clearly notice how focused we are on them, and that we are constantly evolving. We are a small team, but deeply curious about our customers and fundamentally dissatisfied with the status quo, says Sim
en Eilertsen, Executive Vice President at Bulder.
Bulder was established in 2019 and quickly gained market share in the mortgage market. Now, Norwegian consumers believe the company is the nation's most innovative and customer-friendly.
– Bulder follows customers closely and provides solutions that simplify everyday life – from automatic interest rate adjustments to an innovative mobile app. Customers describe Bulder as ‘simple’, ‘open’ and ‘proactive’, says Kristina Heinonen, Adjunct Professor at NHH and responsible for the innovation index.
Several leaps – and a comeback
This year's measurement also reveals several significant improvements among established players:
Sbanken is among the companies climbing the most compared with last year. The bank was for several years at the top of the NII rankings but dropped sharply after the DNB acquisition in 2022/2023. Now it is on its way back up.
NRK and NAV also show marked improvement in all three categories.
Tise is this year's most innovative within socially oriented solutions, ahead of Stormberg and Bilia.
Tesla retains its position as the most innovative company in commercial innovation and is close behind Bulder overall.
– A pattern among standout companies is that they help people in everyday life with user-friendly and efficient solutions, says Heinonen.
She adds that customers reward companies with a clear sustainability profile. She highlights Tise, Finn.no and Tesla for contributing to increased environmental awareness, as well as Tibber and Bulder, which help people save money.
