Knowledge Exchange

The FAIR Administration team recently visited the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna for a rewarding exchange of experiences. The visit focused on how administrative teams can contribute to strong research environments through collaboration and shared practices.

Last week, members of the FAIR Administration team traveled to Bologna, Italy, to meet with administrative colleagues at the University of Bologna’s Department of Economics. The visit was part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen international networks and share best practices for supporting high-quality research.

During the exchange, the FAIR team presented the structure and scope of their administrative work. With contributions from the Head of Administration, Centre Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Project Economist, and two Research Data Managers, they highlighted how collaboration across research project management, data handling, logistics, communications, and strategic support enables an effective research environment.

Discussions with their Italian counterparts provided useful insights into how administrative teams can contribute to strong and well-functioning research infrastructures. The opportunity to exchange experiences and approaches with like-minded professionals proved both valuable and motivating.

The visit concluded with a team-building trip through the Emilia-Romagna region, including visits to local producers of Parmigiano Reggiano and Aceto Balsamico di Modena. These shared experiences helped strengthen internal team dynamics and created space for informal reflection and connection.

FAIR Administration extends its thanks to the University of Bologna for their warm welcome and thoughtful exchange.
