NHH researchers break all previous Records

With 22 articles in the world’s top-ranked journals, 2025 marks NHH’s strongest publication year to date.

In 2025, researchers at NHH published 22 papers in the world’s top economics journals. This is four more than last year—which was also a strong year, with 18 top-tier publications.

Vice Rector for Research, Katrine V. Løken, is proud of the results:

`These are fantastic numbers. The 2025 record is clear evidence of the academic strength within the NHH research environment—and of the high level of ambition among our researchers.´

Highest ranked journals

This week, she is awarding publication bonuses to all 33 NHH researchers who are either sole authors or co-authors of the papers. What they all have in common is that the 22 articles were published in journals ranked by the Financial Times and NHH as the very top outlets within their respective fields of economic research.

Bonus at NHH

  • NOK 200,000 for publication in journals included on both lists.
  • NOK 100,000 for publication in journals on NHH’s list.
  • NOK 80,000 for publication in journals exclusively on the FT list.

These journals impose extremely strict quality standards and demand strong scholarly impact. Several of them reject up to 95 percent of submitted manuscripts.

NOK 200,000

A paper that appears on both the Financial Times list and NHH’s top-journal list is awarded a NOK 200,000 publication bonus (see fact box). Last year, there were 18 such articles, while in 2023 the number was 10.

This year, 22 articles qualify for the bonus.

Løken is clear that publication bonuses remain a priority for NHH:

`Publication bonuses are a clear signal that NHH prioritises high academic quality and research with international impact. Seeing so many researchers succeed internationally at the same time is inspiring for the entire organisation,´ says Løken.
