AMBA Re-accreditation for NHH: «Provides International Credibility»

The MBA program at NHH Executive receives exclusive quality seal: Re-accredited for three more years by AMBA.

In December last year, Karine Haugseth (35) was one of the students who completed the two-year EMBA program (Executive Master of Business Administration) at NHH Executive.

«The academic content was highly relevant», says Haugseth, who works at Atea Finance – a subsidiary of the IT company Atea. She was particularly pleased that topics related to technology and artificial intelligence were integrated into the curriculum.

«It felt very timely, and it was easy to connect the content to challenges one actually encounters in daily work», she says.

International credibility

t’s not just former students who give NHH’s continuing education high praise. It has now been confirmed that the business school has been re-accredited for another three years by AMBA – The Association of MBAs.

The British AMBA accreditation is among the most recognized quality seals for international business schools.

«AMBA accreditation gives international credibility to our MBA program and is an important quality marker for students, businesses, and partners», says NHH Rector Helge Thorbjørnsen.

NHH first achieved this status in 2020. To maintain it, the school must undergo regular re-accreditation, where the program is assessed against defined criteria. AMBA also provides recommendations and advice.

«The accreditation process is also important for quality assurance and further development of NHH’s MBA program», says Thorbjørnsen.

Push forward

Professor Trond Bjørnenak, program director for the EMBA with a specialization in financial management and leadership (MØST) at NHH Executive, agrees. He emphasizes that they are constantly working to improve the academic content.

«But discussing what we can do better isn’t always easy to prioritize. With AMBA, we get external pressure to do so. Moreover, we have to demonstrate that we actually implement improvements, not just say we will. I’m convinced that the programs have genuinely been elevated in several areas thanks to this drive», says Bjørnenak.

Triple Crown

The AMBA re-accreditation means that NHH continues to be a «triple crown» school. This refers to accreditation by AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS – a status achieved by only a select few business schools worldwide. In total, around 140 schools hold this prestigious quality seal.
