NEW EXCELLENT TEACHING PRACTITIONER at NHH

NHH Professor Eirik Sjåholm Knudsen has become an Excellent Teaching Practitioner.

'It is a great honor to become a Excellent Teaching Practitioner. For me, it is confirmation that all the time and effort I put into teaching matters, and it inspires me to continue developing myself and my own teaching. NHH has many exceptionally good lecturers who I have been lucky enough to learn from and spar with,' says Knudsen.
The qualification scheme "Excellent Teaching Practitioner" at NHH awards outstanding lecturers at NHH. The scheme will reward the work of developing the teaching and contribute to a professional teaching and learning culture.

TEACHERS WHO HAVE FUN

An important principle for Knudsen is that the teaching should enable participants to make better and more informed strategic decisions. To achieve this, he tries to make students active participants in the learning, and draws in real cases and decision-making situations from the business world as much as possible.
'I also believe that simplification is central to making theory practically relevant. Not to dumb things down, but to cut the academic content down to the most important mechanisms, principles and assumptions, and use that as a starting point for discussion. And finally, it has also been important for me to have a somewhat playful and experimental approach to teaching. If the lecturer is having fun, I think this rubs off on the group and contributes to better learning, says the new Excellent Teaching Practitioner.
