98 per cent have a relevant job

The coronavirus pandemic did not put a damper on NHH students’ careers, according to a new survey. ‘Always a demand for talented business graduates.’

I think the best advice I ever received was from my sister. I can’t quote her on anything specifically, but she’s always told me that I should do whatever I enjoy doing, and that by giving it 100 per cent I’ll end up happy and where I’m supposed to be.

What will you miss the most from your time at NHH?

‘I’ll mostly miss the beautiful views from the campus, my friends, and the many possibilities to travel abroad, learn new things, and meet new people.’

What is the best advice you have ever been given, and from whom?

‘Good question... I think the best advice I ever received was from my sister. I can’t quote her on anything specifically, but she’s always told me that I should do whatever I enjoy doing, and that by giving it 100 per cent I’ll end up happy and where I’m supposed to be.’

Your plans for the summer?

‘I had three weeks of holiday earlier this summer, and I used that time well; went on a road trip with my friends in Norway, showed my family Bergen and planned my move to Oslo.’

Job?

‘I just started working as an influencer marketing intern at Opera Software in Oslo.’

What will you miss the most from your time at NHH?
‘I will miss my friends from NHH, but also sports groups and courses.’

What is the best advice you have ever been given, and from whom?

I have two:

“When you are in your 20s, try everything. In your 30s figure out what you are best at and want to do in your life. In your 40s figure out how to make a living by doing what you do best.”

“Don’t worry so much what other people think of you, it is very likely that they were not even thinking of you in the first place.”

‘I don’t remember where I got these, but they have stuck with me.’

Got a job in London while being a NHH student

‘Technological and economics skills are becoming more important than ever,’ says former NHH student, Aelon Nicolson. He is now working as a Global Data Specialist at Bloomberg in London.

One of the best advice I have ever been given: “When you are in your 20s, try everything. In your 30s figure out what you are best at and want to do in your life. In your 40s figure out how to make a living by doing what you do best.”

Your plans for the summer?

‘I will take a long summer break from work and studies and fly back to my home city after spending two amazing years in Bergen.’

Job?

‘I will move to Oslo to start my career as an analyst at Rystad Energy.’

What will you miss the most from your time at NHH?

‘I will miss the learning environment the most. I enjoyed having the desired level of flexibility about my study plan and learning applicable and relevant knowledge and skills every single day. NHH has prepared me exceptionally well for real-life work challenges and I feel ready to embark upon my professional journey.’

What is the best advice you have ever been given, and from whom?

‘The best advice I have ever received came from my mom and she was always saying that studying abroad is not all about the courses. One should embrace new experiences, build meaningful connections, and create lasting memories that extend beyond academic pursuits.

Your plans for the summer?

‘Enjoying some time with friends and family, as well as defending my thesis at Bocconi University in Milano.’

Job?

‘Job, yes! L'Oreal in Copenhagen, as management trainee.’

What will you miss the most from your time at NHH?

‘Miss the most? What is there not to miss! My lovely friends, colleges, co-students, the NHH basement, ice-cold beers, and concerts. Life as an NHH-student is too great to not miss it all.’

What is the best advice you have ever been given, and from whom?

‘The best advice I got was from... myself! I remind myself that one day we will all die, so we might as well make the most out of life until then. Tomorrow is not promised!’

The best advice I have ever received came from my uncle who told me “Nobody’s path is linear.” This was when I was graduating high school and had a very specific vision of how I wanted the next few years to pan out.

Job?

‘I will be working for Cognizant in Oslo as a junior business consultant.’

What will you miss the most from your time at NHH?

‘I will miss the people above all else! I know that the connections and friendships I made will last a lifetime.’

What is the best advice you have ever been given, and from whom?

‘The best advice came from my uncle who told me “Nobody’s path is linear.” This was when I was graduating high school and had a very specific vision of how I wanted the next few years to pan out. He urged me to understand that there is no direct path to achieving one’s goals, and he was right. Almost nothing turned out exactly as I had expected and I couldn’t be more grateful for that, as I would have missed out on some of the best experiences and people of my life.’
