Today prime minister Erna Solberg and Minister of Health and Care services Bern Høie gave an orientation on the outbreak of coronavirus in Norway, and the consequences.
At the press conference Solberg said that the Government makes an continuous assessment as to how effective closing of universities and schools, social distancing and other measures have been in stifling the spread of the coronavirus. So far, they do not want to lift the restrictions in spite of severe consequences on the economy.
In order to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to contribute to the maintenance of necessary health and care services, the Norwegian Directorate of Health has, according to the Infection Control Act, issued a decision to close:
- Childcare centres
- Primary schools
- Lower secondary schools
- Upper secondary schools
