Watch the Agnar Sandmo Lecture given by Nobel Laureate Peter Diamond, Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This week Nobel Laureate Peter Diamond visited Norwegian School of Economics. Diamond is a Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Diamond held this year´s Agnar Sandmo Lecture on Public Policy. Diamond´s lecture at NHH: «Good Pension Design».

He was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2010, along with Dale T. Mortensen and Christopher A. Pissarides, for his analysis of markets with search frictions.

Professor Diamond is one of the world's top experts on retirement protection, known for his analysis the differences between different pensions systems.

NHH Professor Agnar Sandmo retired at the age of 70 on 9 January 2008. In order to mark Sandmo’s long contribution to the field, as well as his international standing NHH has established two annual institutions:

  • The Sandmo Lecture on Public Policy is held by leading international economists.
  • Sandmo Junior Visiting Fellowship is a guest scholarship for especially promising young researchers under the age of 40.
