Funding for Continuing Education

Wondering how to finance your continuing education? Here are some options. This primarily applies to Norwegian students.

Many of our students have their studies paid for by their employer – and there are good tax benefits for both the company and you as an employee.

Employer Funding

  • Your employer can cover all or part of the education costs, which are usually tax-deductible for the company.
  • As an employee, you are generally not taxed on this benefit, provided the education is relevant for your current or future role with the same employer.
  • The tax exemption applies to education programmes typically lasting up to four semesters.
  • If the education lasts more than two months, you must have been employed full-time by your current employer for at least one year at the start of your studies.

When the Employment Ends

  • If the education is covered as part of ending your employment, tax exemption may also apply – as long as the skills gained are relevant for a new job.
