Broadcasting of Norwegian football

Chronicle by NHH Professors Foros and Kind and Professor Hjelmeng (University of Oslo): The European Commission has stated that football broadcasting rights should be marketed in different packages.

The Court of Justice of the European Union has acted against exclusive rights to broadcast sport.

However, Norsk Toppfotball, the special interest organisation for the soccer clubs in the top two leagues in Norway, is trying to prevent players and coaches to participate in TV2 programs. From a media political point of view, this is worrying. Moreover, the Norwegian Competition Authority may blow the whistle for misuse of market power.

Øystein Foros, Erling Hjelmeng and Hans Jarle Kind write about this in their chronicle Holder i trøyen (in Norwegian), which was published in Dagens Næringsliv on April 22, 2017.
