Research questions the validity of slow steaming’s green claims

Roar Ådland, Pierre Cariou and Francois-Charles Wolff have revisited the science behind slow steaming and are questioning the validity of the green claims championed by many owners and politicians such as Emmanuel Macron.

Their new paper on the subject, entitled Optimal ship speed and the cubic law revisited: Empirical evidence from an oil tanker fleet, has just been published in Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review.

On 15 June 2020 Roar Ådland was interviewed on the paper by Splash247.com.
