Nordic Macro Symposium brings researchers to Solstrand

The 18th Nordic Summer Symposium in Macroeconomics and Finance brings junior researchers and senior scholars together at Solstrand Hotel, with Ludwig Straub from Harvard University as keynote speaker.

The (NORMAC) symposium is an academic research conference focused on macroeconomics and macro-finance. Its main aim is to promote frontier contributions by junior researchers and strengthen ties between the Nordic research community and leading international scholars.

The event is designed to support early-career researchers by providing a focused setting for presenting ongoing work and receiving detailed feedback from established academics.

Participants will present and discuss research on topics broadly related to macroeconomics and macro-finance. At NORMAC, papers will be presented in sessions on the following topics: Labour Markets; Innovation and Productivity; Macro-Finance: Credit and Housing; International and Open Economy; Firms: Prices and Misallocation; Inequality and Stabilization Policy; Expectations and Beliefs; and Labour Supply and Home Production.

The NORMAC organising committee includes researchers from several Nordic and international institutions, including the University of Oslo, BI Norwegian Business School and NHH Norwegian School of Economics, with Gernot Doppelhofer (NHH) among its members.

The Nordic Summer Symposium in Macroeconomics and Finance will take place at Solstrand Hotel by Bjørnefjorden from 10 to 13 August 2026.
