In search of Norway’s best communicator of economics
The Victor D. Norman Communication Prize will be awarded for the second time this year. Last year’s winner was Kalle Moene – who will it be in 2025?
Victor Norman Communication Prize
The Victor D. Norman Communication Prize is awarded annually and is financed through donations from the three initiators Atle Bergshaven, Herbjørn Hansson, and Jens Ulltveit-Moe, as well as NHH alumni and friends of Victor.
Nominations with a short justification must be submitted by 1 October 2025 by e-mail to NHH at randi.holmas@nhh.no.
The prize was established shortly before Professor Victor D. Norman of NHH passed away on 20 September 2024. It is a tribute to his significant contributions as an outstanding economist with a unique ability to communicate clearly, engagingly, and provocatively.
The prize is awarded to a person who contributes to public communication and debate on issues in Norwegian economics and economic policy. It aims to reward the dissemination of economic insight that combines academic quality with being accessible and engaging, thereby fostering rational and constructive public debate.
Unrealistic and populist claims should be met with sharp scrutiny, while challenges to conventional thinking should be encouraged.
`It is a great honour. Victor Norman has always been a role model,´ said Kalle Moene when he received the inaugural award in 2024. Moene is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Economics, University of Oslo.
NHH now invites nominations. The prize carries an award of NOK 50,000 and will be presented at the NHH Alumni Conference in Oslo on 17 October 2025.
