In Australia, the fall semester is referred to as Semester 2, and the spring semester as Semester 1.
Degree Structure

Credit System
- Australian universities do not have a uniform credit system; however, in general, four courses correspond to 30 Norwegian credits.

- In Canada, a bachelor’s degree typically requires four years of full-time study at the undergraduate level, while master’s degrees (postgraduate programs) generally last one year.
Credit System
- Canadian universities do not use a standardized national credit system. The conversion of 30 ECTS can range from 2.5 to 15 Canadian credits, depending on the institution. Students are therefore advised to verify the credit equivalency directly with their host university.
Language of Instruction
- The primary language of instruction in Canada is English, except in the province of Québec, where the main language of instruction is French. However, many universities in Québec also offer courses in English. Students wishing to study in Québec may be required to provide proof of French language proficiency.
Visa
- If you plan to stay in Canada for less than six months, you only need to register for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). For stays longer than six months, you must apply for a Study Permit. As part of the Study Permit application process, you will need to submit biometric information, which can be completed at Canadian embassies in Stockholm, Paris, or London.

- France follows the European higher education model, consisting of the bachelor’s degree (licence) and the master’s degree (maîtrise). NHH is partnered with several highly ranked Grandes Écoles, which offer five-year programs comprising two preparatory years (classes préparatoires) followed by three intensive years of study. Graduate exchange students from NHH typically enroll in courses from the second year of the Grande École program.
