  • Topics

    This course is a beginners course in Norwegian and gives an introduction to the Norwegian language and culture. The course focuses on the everyday language and language use. In addition selected topics from the Norwegian culture will be presented.

  • Learning outcome

    On successful completion of the course you will 

    Knowledge

    • have knowledge of the Norwegian language and grammar
    • have knowledge of the Norwegian culture and society

    Skills

    • talk about, and ask questions about everyday life
    • talk about plans for the future and what you have done
    • read and understand short texts
    • write short texts with a basic vocabulary

  • Teaching

    The course is focused on student-active learning. The lectures are a combination of presentations, group work and exercises, oral and written practice, as well as conversation classes. Oral exercise is a very important part of the course and active participation is a prerequisite.

  • Compulsory Activity

    • One individual written assignment
    • Two grammar tests

    The activities will be given throughout the semester and must be handed in by the appointed date (made public at the start of term). All elements will be graded as approved/not approved. All elements must be completed in the same teaching semester.

  • Assessment

    The assessment consists of two parts: a portfolio and an oral exam

    1. Portfolio (50%)

    One written assignment, approx. 100 words

    One reflection protocol with self-assessment focus

    2. Oral exam (50%)

    A group exam of about 20 minutes. Each student will be assessed individually.
