Jan Yngve Sand is a Partner at HKA based in Oslo and has over 20 years of experience in competition economics. Prior to joining HKA, he was partner at RBB Economics. Jan was the Chief Economist at the Norwegian Competition Authority (NCA). In that position, he was the chief economic advisor to the Director General of the NCA in relation to decisions on mergers and behavioural practices.

Before joining the Norwegian Competition Authority in 2020, Jan was teaching and conducting research related to competition and regulation economics as a professor of economics, and regularly presenting at competition economics conferences.

Jan holds a PhD from the Norwegian School of Economics, where he undertook research on competition and regulation of the telecoms industry.
