The BEDS Internship Semester

In the fourth semester, you can complete an internship in a company or organization through the course Internship BEDS (course code COM3), applying the knowledge and skills gained during the first three semesters of the bachelor’s program.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

COM3 is a 25 ECTS course offered exclusively for BEDS students during the fourth semester.

How to sign up for the courses:

  1. Find an internship
  2. Send in an application with an Internship contract to get your internship approved by 1 December in your third semester to: Beate.Sandvei@nhh.no
  3. The application must include a copy of your work contract:

  5. Sign up to the course COM3 on Studentweb by 1 February in your fourth semester

INTERNSHIP APPROVAL CRITERIA

  1. The internship should encompass 450 hours (approximately 3 months) of work performed at a professional level between February and June. Work hours are based on an 8-hour day, Monday through Friday. While adjustments can be made, the full 450 hours must be completed by the end of June.
  2. The internship can be paid or compensated according to the regulations of the country where it takes place. Students can apply for exemptions from this rule.
  3. Students should be assigned one or more challenging projects to complete independently or as part of a team.
  4. Internship tasks must be related to one or more of the fields of business, economics, and data science.
  5. The internship cannot be conducted remotely (e.g., from a home office).
  6. Interns must have a designated contact person at the company or institution where they are interning.
  7. Before the internship begins, interns must secure a work contract from their employer and apply for internship approval from NHH.

For students:

  1. You must include a copy of your work contract when applying for approval.
  2. If the internship is outside your country, you must obtain travel insurance covering the duration of the travel and the entire internship period beforehand.
  3. Students must inform the Career Centre and the course responsible as soon as possible should any changes occur in the planned internship period. 

Other regulations:

  1. COM3 is offered only as a 4th-semester elective for BEDS students.
  2. Previous internships, including summer internships from June to August, are not eligible for approval as a COM3 internship.
  3. The employer’s evaluation confirms your completion and performance of the internship (Evaluation Form). The course-responsible approves the internship.
  4. The assessment in the course is based on a final report written by the student.
