TYS10 German for Economics

    TYS10 German Economic Language is the first of two German elective courses. Recommended prior knowledge is German level II (in the Norwegian School system) or A2. It provides a good basis for communicating effectively in German in professional contexts, both in writing and orally. The course also provides insight into social and economic themes in contemporary Germany.

  • Learning outcome

    Upon successful completion of the course, the student has/can:

    Knowledge

    • Sufficient knowledge of the German language system to produce short written documents used in business.
    • Suitable vocabulary to express oneself, with some reformulations, about central parts of the economic system and political culture in Germany. 

    Skills

    • Give short presentations in German based on topics within German economy and politics.
    • Enter into a conversation in German on familiar topics. Can express personal opinions and exchange information on topics within economics and politics in German.
    • Use economic-administrative terminology and expressions in German to compose simple formal e-mails/letters.

    General competence

    • German culture and society have framed economic and political history over the last 70 years.
