Doctoral Colloquium

Doctoral Colloquium

The Doctoral Colloquium is organised as part of the FIBE Conference on 3 and 4 January 2019.

The Doctoral Colloquium is primarily for doctoral students in the first or second year of their doctoral programme. We encourage new doctoral students to present their research proposal at the Colloquium. Students at a later stage are encouraged to present their paper at one of the parallel sessions at the FIBE Conference and to attend the Doctoral Colloquium track at the Conference.

The Colloquium offers new doctoral students an opportunity to present and discuss their research proposal with senior researchers in their field of research, as well as to interact with fellow doctoral students working on similar research problems. Doctoral students who wish to present and discuss their research proposal at the Colloquium are required to submit a short proposal of 4 – 5 pages addressing

  • their research problem
  • how the research problem relates to present insights
  • the intended research contribution
  • how the research problem is planned to be studied

The proposal should be submitted electronically to no later than 3 December, 2018.

Two invited talks by NHH professors have been organised in connection with the Colloquium:

  • Vivienne Bowery Knowles: Effective academic writing – in English
  • Helge Thorbjørnsen: How to succeed with a PhD thesis on time

The registration fee for PhD Candidates is NOK 1.200 and includes attendance at the Conference in addition to the special programme for doctoral students.
