Broaden your academic perspective by joining NHH's Double Degree Programme! The programme enables you to enter a new academic field and gain a deeper cultural knowledge of your host country by spending a whole year abroad. Several Double Degree alumni have also continued with an international career. 

The Double Degree programme is open to current NHH students. As a double degree student, you spend the first year of the programme at NHH in Bergen, pursuing the major of your choice. The second-year will be spent at one of NHH's highly ranked Double Degree partner universities.

Upon graduation you will receive two master's degree titles; one MSc in Economics and Business Administration from NHH and an additional master's degree title from your host university.

  • Bocconi, Italy

    Bocconi, Italy

    Combine the ECN, ENE, MBM or STR major at NHH with a Master’s programme at Bocconi. Please note that the EMIT programme is very competitive and we recommend students to apply for several programmes.

    Applicable to all programmes at Bocconi:

    • Language: The programme is taught entirely in English
    • Master thesis: You will write your Master’s thesis alone, with supervisors from both Bocconi and NHH. Please note that you must apply to write your master thesis alone by 1 October.
    • Tuition fee: There is no tuition fee for Double Degree students at Bocconi, but you must pay a graduation fee
    • Erasmus+: You will receive an Erasmus+ grant.
    • Language requirements: Regular.
    • Other: You have to follow a specific study plan during your first year at NHH in order to qualify for the Bocconi degree.

    Please note that the Bocconi Double Degree is not available to other NHH majors than the following:

    ECN major at NHH, Economics and Management of Innovation (EMIT) at Bocconi

    • Seven set courses at NHH in the first year to replace mandatory courses at Bocconi. 
    • One of the minor/ elective courses at NHH or Bocconi must fulfil the NHH ethics requirement.

    ENE major at NHH, Economics and Management of Innovation (EMIT) at Bocconi

    HEC Paris, France

    Do you consider yourself a changemaker? Do you aspire to innovate and change the business world? HEC Paris invites highly motivated and ambitious students to their Sustainability and Social Innovation programme.

    • Language: The programme is taught entirely in English.
    • Master thesis: You will write your master's thesis alone. Please note that you must apply to write your master thesis alone by 1 October.
      • You will submit your master's thesis to NHH. You must apply for a supervisor in your first semester at NHH and start working on your thesis in your second semester.
    • Tuition fee: Double Degree students must pay tuition fee to HEC. The rate is approximately EUR €24 525 for the full-year programme. Scholarships are available to international students.
    • Erasmus+: You will not receive an Erasmus+ grant.
    • Language requirement: Regular.
    • Other: A 16-week internship is an HEC Paris degree requirement.

  • Ivey Business School, Canada

    Ivey Business School, Canada

    In their Master in Management programme, Ivey Business School uses case studies as their main teaching method to assess how innovation and changing best practice affect international management.

    • Master thesis: You will write your master thesis at Ivey.

  • Louvain School of Management, Belgium

    Louvain School of Management, Belgium

    Spend a year in the heart of Europe and graduate with a Master’s degree in Business Engineering or Management from Louvain. A variety of programme combinations and specialisations are available.

    • Programme structure (pdf, 218KB)
    • Language: The programme is taught entirely in English.
    • Master thesis: You will write a joint master thesis with one supervisor from NHH and one reader from Louvain, starting the writing process in your second semester at NHH, to be submitted to both institutions. You must write your thesis alone. The thesis must be orally defended at LSM.
    • Tuition fee: There is no tuition fee for Double Degree students at Louvain.
    • Erasmus+: You will receive an Erasmus+ grant.
    • Language requirements: You must have achieved a TOEFL IBT score of 100 or an IELTS result of 7 (with minimum sub-band scores of 6.5 in speaking and writing) before you can start your studies at Louvain.
    • Other: Students specialising in Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment (ENE) at NHH can extend their academic field to include a specialisation in Supply Chain Management at LSM.

    Combine the Finance specialisation at NHH with the highly ranked Masters in Finance at NOVA to develop your knowledge and competencies within the Finance discipline. This unique Double Degree makes you stand out, with two degrees in the Finance field that gives you a unique in-depth knowledge and a solid set of qualifications.

    Please note that this Double Degree opportunity is exclusively available for students following the Finance specialisation at NHH.

    University of Mannheim, Germany

    Choose from a wide range of specialisations and achieve a Master’s Degree in Management from the University of Mannheim.

    • Programme structure (pdf, 220KB)
    • Language: The programme is taught entirely in English.
    • Master thesis: You will write your master thesis at the University of Mannheim, according to their requirements and procedures. Topics for Master’s theses are distributed, not selected.
    • Tuition fee: There is no tuition fee for Double Degree students at the University of Mannheim.
    • Erasmus+: You will receive an Erasmus+ grant.
    • Language requirements: Regular.
    • Other: 
      • There are five mandatory courses in the Mannheim Master in Management programme (CC 501 Decision Analysis, either CC 502 Applied Econometrics or CC 503 Empirical Methods, CC 504 Corporate Social Responsibility, BE 510 Business Economics I, BE 511 Business Economics II).
      • Some core courses may be covered by NHH courses, leaving room for more electives at Mannheim.

    University of Queensland, Australia

    Pursue a Master’s Degree in Global Management from the University of Queensland, a research-based university ranked amongst the top 100 universities of the world.

    • Language: The programme is taught entirely in English.
    • Master thesis: You will write your thesis at UQ alone.
    • Tuition fee: There is no tuition fee for Double Degree students at UQ.
    • Erasmus+: You will not receive an Erasmus+ grant.
    • Language requirements: You must have achieved a TOEFL IBT score of 100 or an IELTS result of 7 (with minimum sub-band scores of 6.5 in speaking and writing) before you can start your studies at UQ.
    • Other: You must take three mandatory courses at the University of Queensland. NHH students who have taken INB400 will be exempt from taking Operating International Business at UQ and can take an additional elective instead.

Admission and application 

The application deadline is every year on 1 November.

Successful applicants must fulfil the requirements such as GPA, study progression, motivation, personal aptitude, international experience, and language skills.
