Special opportunity for master students interested in new business development
In the autumn semester 2018, 10 students will get the opportunity to follow a course in student entrepreneurship and business idea development at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL).
The course will be a combination of seminars and practical assignments, and will take a problem-oriented approach in developing an idea into a business plan.
Read the complete course description at hvl.no.
Please note that the course description may be updated before the autumn semester.
Who may apply?
This course is relevant for master students who are interested in entrepreneurship. It is especially relevant if you are seeking to major or minor in New Business Development (NBD). Students who have already passed at least one course within the NBD profile have been invited by e-mail to apply.
The course will be recognized as equivalent to NBD405 New business development in practice in your degree, which is a mandatory course in the NBD major. It is therefore a particularly good opportunity to get a head start if you are planning for a major in NBD. It may also count as an NBD minor course or an elective on your diploma.
Note on overlap: If you are considering using this course towards an NBD major, please be aware that you may not combine an NBD major with a minor in Innovation School or Gründerskolen.
22 June (midnight)
How to apply
Fill in the form below and upload a motivation letter in word or PDF format. The letter should be 1-2 pages, written in English, and respond to the following questions:
- Please describe your interest in entrepreneurship and in small, high growth start-up businesses.
- Why will attending this course be important for your education?
- How can your knowledge and contribution strengthen the multi-disciplinary team you will be working with?
What are the selection criteria?
All incoming applications will be screened based on the following criteria:
- Number of ECTS credits already passed within the NBD major
When will you receive a reply?
You will receive a reply to your application on Monday 2 July. If you are offered a place on the course, you must accept by midnight 3 July. You accept by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org acknowledging that you want to participate. Please make sure you are available by email and phone on these dates, and ready to make a committed decision in case of an offer.
If you do not reply within the deadline, your place may be offered to an applicant on the waiting list.
Please note that there will not be made any exception to the 3 July deadline, as we are required to pass the final student selection to HVL within a short timeframe.
Accepted students will receive information from HVL regarding course registration in early August.
Commitment and cancellation of participation
If you are admitted to the course, you will become part of a multi-disciplinary team of NHH and HVL-students, and cooperate with a selected business. In order to plan and prepare, we will share the student list with our partners at HVL as soon as it is final. We have a very limited possibility of filling up places if students cancel their participation. We therefore kindly ask that you do not accept the offer unless you are certain that you will attend the course.
In the unforeseen event that something occurs and you are forced to cancel your participation, please send an email to email@example.com as soon as possible.
