Already at age 17, Italian Valeria Duml (25), knew she wanted to spend her life abroad. During the past eight years, she has studied and worked in seven different countries.

In 2014 Duml travelled to Norway to take her Masters degree in International Business at NHH, which gives students a global perspective on finance, marketing, economics and strategy.

- I wanted to specialize in economics, and knew that I wanted to work abroad after I graduated. The master program in International Business was therefore an easy and useful choice for me, says Duml.

Moved to London

After finishing her Masters degree at NHH, applying for jobs in Italy, was not an option for Duml – she wanted to work abroad.

The 25-year old moved to London, where she now works as a Business Analyst for Efficio. Duml got to know the company at the Career Fair at NHH. Efficio is a consultancy specialized in supply chain and procurement. The company is based in London and has offices across Europe and North America.

- NHH work closely with a wide range of national and international businesses, and the Career Day is a good place to meet future employers. Efficio caught my attention due to their international presence and their niche position in the consulting industry.

Speaks five languages

After living eight years in different parts of the world, Duml now speaks five languages; Norwegian, English, Spanish, Italian and her mother tongue – German. Knowing multiple languages makes her an important resource to her employer.

- The benefits of being able to communicate with clients in their own language are huge. Potentially, it can lead to stronger relationships and doing business more efficiently.

Leveraging efficiencies

As Business Analyst for Efficio, Duml works with clients from a diverse range of industries to identify, deliver and sustain improvement opportunities in procurement.

- My job is to help my clients reach their potential by advising them on how they can make improvements in their supply chain. That involves helping the client understand the cost structure of their supply chain as well as changes they can make to improve and sustain it.

- Did you experience any difficulties getting a job abroad?

- No, it was surprisingly easy. I believe it is important to have a solid education. The world keeps getting smaller and companies are increasingly becoming more international.

Therefore, I believe that having previous international experience is an advantage.
