Norvald Monsen turns 60
Norvald Monsen turns 60 on 6 September 2019. He is presently professor at Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. Friends and colleagues at NHH wish Norvald a happy birthday!
He is siviløkonom from 1983, finished HAE in 1985 and completed his doctoral degree in 1989. All degrees are from NHH.
Norvald’s doctoral dissertation was titled "Regnskapet i politikken – om årsrapportens funksjoner for en kommune og dens toppledelse" (Accounting in politics – the role of the annual report in local government). His research was part of the large "Bergen project" under the leadership of professor Olov Olsson. Norvald’s later research has also been devoted primarily to accounting in government and non-profit organizations.
Norvald Monsen has published his research in leading international journals such as Contemporary Accounting Research and European Accounting Review.
He has also been a visiting scholar at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. His interest in the German language has led him to publish in German journals in German. Norvald Monsen was the third winner of the Odd Nordhaug Memorial Prize in 2019.
Norvald was born and grew up in Os outside Bergen. He is celebrating his birthday by moving into his new house in his hometown.
