Finalists for master students' teaching award
Leif Egil Hem, Finn Kinserdal og Francisco Santos are the three finalists for the Master’s Students’ Award for Excellence in Teaching 2019. Which one of them wins the award will be a well kept secret until the graduation ceremony on 14 June.
The Student Committee at NHH has received many good nominations this year and has chosen three finalists for the award.
"The number of nominations is considered relative to the size of the courses the lecturers are teaching, and we have emphasized the content of the nominations when choosing our finalists. The jury soon became unanimous in who we believed stood out of the nominees", says Raymond Lægreid, Head of the Master’s Program in the Student Committee.
The jury has focused on the following criteria:
- ability to communicate
- learning resources
- academic expertise
Of the 28 nominated lecturers, the jury has chosen the following top three finalists, in alphabetical order:
Leif Egil Hem, Professor at the Department of Strategy and Management. The jury states that "Hem shows great enthusiasm about what he is teaching and makes a huge effort to make sure that everyone understands the topic. His feedback sessions were terrific, and he obviously reads the assignments very thoroughly."
Finn Kinserdal, Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. The jury states that "Kinserdal is able to make a somewhat dry topic exciting, and he is extraordinary engaging and inspiring. He has contributed to develop and update several of the accounting courses by making them more relevant and digitalized."
Francisco Santos, Associate Professor at the Department of Finance. The jury states that "Santos has very good interaction with the students during class. He explains the material in an excellent way, and he makes the course understandable and very interesting".
