the a. wilhelmsen scholarship has given me financial security

Studying at NHH for me meant that I needed to look for ways to finance my stay. I first heard about the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation scholarship from a friend that had read about it, and it sounded almost too good to be true.

about andrejs semjonovs

I am a second year MSc student at NHH. Before coming to NHH I did my bachelor's degree at Stockholm School of Economics, Riga (SSE Riga). NHH is my first experience studying abroad and so far it has been great! Since I have my bachelor's degree from SSE Riga I was lucky enough to be eligible to apply for the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation scholarship.

Why NHH?

When comparing MSc programmes in different business schools, one of my main criteria for choosing where to study was the quality and relevance of the educational offer. Having renowned research centres, good positions in the rankings as well as offering a wide variety of topical courses that can be combined into your master’s degree, NHH stood out as a very attractive option.  A fine feedback about the

school from friends that had studied at NHH before confirmed this. On top of a good educational offer, the magnificent landscape of Norway and Bergen made NHH an even more appealing choice. There was, however, one thing that held me back from making a decision straight away – the rather high living costs.

FINANCING MY STUDIES

I read the information about the scholarship in the school’s website which confirmed that it is indeed a splendid opportunity. Being a student at NHH and recipient of the scholarship for a year now, I can confirm it again. The Wilhelmsen scholarship made me financially secure, allowing me to focus on studies and school activities. I got the first instalment of the scholarship as soon as I completed the formalities of registering and opened a bank account in Norway, hence, I did not need to worry about finance for the first semester either. Another advantage is that the scholarship has not entailed any specific formal obligations.

Studying at NHH with help from the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation scholarship has been an excellent experience. I can really recommend it. Besides, it really does not hurt to try – the application for A. Wilhelmsen Foundation scholarship requires only one motivation letter in addition to the documents required for applying to NHH!
