Negotiation Genius

Negotiations is my favourite class this term because we get to participate in real-life negotiation cases in groups of 3-5, negotiating over issues like property value and price war or collaboration.

About Hanna Kristin Trønnes

From: Canada/Oslo

I'm a 24 year old 2nd year MSc student in Economics and Business Administration & CEMS MIM. I was born in Canada, and raised in Oslo. From grade 4-7 I lived in Reykjavik. As a result, I feel a bit rootless, and love to explore the world. My passions are yoga, Pilates and dance.

The days are passing quickly as I move from lecture to lecture or from teaching yoga to Pilates.

Negotiations is my favourite class this term because we get to participate in real-life negotiation cases in groups of 3-5, negotiating over issues like property value and price war or collaboration. I just finished the book “Negotiation Genius”, and like the book because it integrates psychology, how our brains work, and what motivates us with plain economics. My strategy this semester is to read to learn, and to supplement the lectures by reading the book in each subject. I pour myself a cup of coffee and read on the couch, as if I were reading the newest Harry Potter book.

Apart from school, I have taken up strength training with a couple of friends from NHH. We motivate each other by high fiving after each set. I can barely walk today after yesterday’s leg training. I have also taken up dance lessons once a week, and find myself smiling when I leave the class. In the last methodology for master thesis class, we learned how to use SSPS, and I got a flashback to sitting on the edge of my seat to catch every little tricky detail in “Databehandling for økonomer” during my first year at NHH. I have even found a master buddy who seems interested in the same topics as me for a thesis this spring.

Lisboa NHH Exchange

A couple of weeks back, I was fortunate enough to visit my friend from NHH who is doing an exchange semester at Nova in Lisboa. She showed me around the city, and we ate delicious food and visited the Saturday market in the sun. I got to wear my summer clothes one last time. Today however, Bergen is bathing in sunshine, and my friends and I went for a beautiful hike up Stoltzen. This weekend I visited my family in Oslo, and the weather was sunny and warm to match the red autumn leaves. It was nice to meet up with friends and walk around in the sunshine. Next weekend my Australian friend whom I met during my exchange in Australia is coming to Bergen for a visit. She is doing her CEMS exchange in Helsinki, and I cannot wait to see her again, and show her around school and Bergen.

Hanna :-)
