Study Abroad at Columbia University

NHH has an agreement with School of Professional Studies at Columbia University.

Additional information on the agreement

This is not an agreement with the Business School at Columbia. In addition to the business courses housed in the certificate program (the ones indicated on the program site), students may take more advanced courses from: some of SPS’s MS programs (Communications, Technology Management, etc); from Arts and Sciences (particularly Economics, Math for Finance and Statistics): and courses in Columbia College and the School for International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Please note that courses need to be preapproved by NHH with regards to subject area, content and academic level.

The Business School is a different matter; it is very unlikely that you will be able to take more than one single elective that they may open up to non-B School students, the process is cumbersome and chances minimal.

Cost of Programs

The agreement with Columbia University, School of Professional Studies (SPS) is not a regular exchange agreement so you have to pay tuition fee. Tuition fees for 12 credits in the academic year 2018/19 is approximately $24 000 for a semester on exchange.

If you are entitled to support from Lånekassen, you will find Columbia University on the “Tilleggsstipendliste”. The current additional scholarship rate can be found here.

Please be aware that it is very unlikely that you will be able to get housing on campus. Columbia University will assist students with information on how to find off campus housing, but bear in mind that finding housing in N.Y. City can be difficult and that living expenses are among the highest in the world. In addition to high tuition fees, this will add a considerable amount to your bill.

Academic calendar

The academic year runs from September-December and January-May.
